No spin. No party. Just the record.
Capitol Hill Index exists so anyone can check what members of Congress do with their money and their votes, without a party telling them what to think about it.
What we promise
Official records first
Every stock trade, campaign dollar and vote on this site traces back to a government filing or a nonpartisan research archive. We don't use campaign material, party scorecards or advocacy-group ratings.
One set of rules for everyone
The financial integrity score uses the same formula for every member, Democrat or Republican. You can see the formula and change its weights yourself on the Members page.
Polls corrected for lean
Polls paid for by a party or campaign are discounted, and every pollster's known lean is measured and removed. The Polls page shows the national average built separately from right-leaning, left-leaning and nonpartisan pollsters, so you can see the corrections working.
Neutral questions
The political quiz uses questions asked by Pew Research Center and Gallup, worded the way they ask them. Your score comes from how Democrats and Republicans actually answer, not from our opinions.
Methods in the open
Each page explains how its numbers are built. Nothing is hand-adjusted to favor anyone.
